The Colorado Legislature passed a bill Friday that will decrease tuition rates for illegal immigrants.
The legislation is slated to go to Gov. John Hickenlooper, who is expected to sign the bill, ABC 7 News reports.
“Undocumented kids will now have a fair and equitable way to pursue a higher education in CO. Well done,” the governor tweeted Friday.
The bill will allow illegal immigrants to attend college at in-state tuition rates.
The bill requires that students graduate from a Colorado high school. They also must have resided in Colorado for at least three consecutive years, and they must sign an affidavit stating they are seeking citizenship, ABC 7 News reports.
