Central Park mugger returns older model flip phone

Two men who were robbed in New York City on Saturday night had quite the story to tell after the armed mugger returned one of their cellphones because it was an older model.

Kevin Cook, 25, was walking with a friend near Central Park about 12:30 a.m. when two men told him and his friend to surrender their belongings, threatening to shoot if they didn’t comply, the New York Post reported.

That’s when Mr. Cook handed over his 2010 LG Quantum with a sliding keyboard.

“Once he saw my phone, he looked at it like, ’What the [expletive] is this?’ and gave it back to me,” the victim told the Post. “”It’s like a 3-year-old generation Windows phone. I guess he didn’t think he could get anything for it. It’s kind of humorous.”

The two robbers took a briefcase, the other man’s cell phone, and a wallet containing $114 in cash.

Police described the armed robber as a 6-foot black male in his early 20s with a slim build. His accomplice was described as a 5-foot-6-inch Hispanic male in his late 20s, with a slim build and wearing his long black hair in a pony tail, a local CBS affiliate reported.
