Harold Camping, the radio preacher who predicted that Jesus would return on May 21, 2011, to usher in the apocalypse, died Sunday evening, his Family Radio network confirmed. He was 92.

Mr. Camping had fallen at his home on Nov. 30 and had been in weak health due to a stroke in 2011, the Religion News Service reported.

When Mr. Camping’s 2011 prophecies turned out to be false, he vowed his ministry would get out of the predictions business.

The ministry sold its prominent radio stations, with assets dropping from $135 million in 2007 to $29.2 million in 2011, RNS reported.

Mr. Camping is survived by his wife of 71 years, the report said.
