LONG BEACH, CALIF. (AP) - Charlie Kimball grew up a Dodgers fan _ his first ever game was a young child at Chavez Ravine.
So when given the chance to throw out the first pitch, he jumped at the opportunity.
Kimball was like a little kid Thursday scrolling through the photos on his phone to show his many moments from Wednesday night’s dream experience.
“Here I am meeting Vin Scully. These are actual bases,” he said, his finger swiping quickly through the gallery. “I know, I know, I was totally geeked out. But it was honestly the coolest thing I’ve ever done outside of a race car.”
Kimball took time to meet longtime Dodgers employees _ including “Mitch, the club house manager who started as a bat boy 29 years ago” _ and watched batting practice, talked to manager Don Mattingly and soaked up every moment possible.
As for the pitch?
“I think it was decent. I threw from the mound on the rubber,” Kimball said. “It bounced in the batter’s box, so it wasn’t much of a strike. I think I’ll stick to driving.”
