A woman was badly injured during an assault in Northwest D.C. on Saturday, police said.

According to D.C. police spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf, the woman was assaulted on the 400 block of 2nd Street Northwest. She walked to the emergency room at about 1:25 p.m. Saturday, exhibiting signs of trauma.

No further information was available about the extent of her injuries or any suspects, police said.
