The Union Station main hall reopened Sunday afternoon after being closed most of the weekend for a damaged ceiling.

The hall was closed Friday at 6 p.m. after a piece of plaster fell from the ceiling, the result of the Aug. 23 earthquake. The hall reopened at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, which official say was more than 12 hours earlier than first anticipated.

Crews hung netting to keep additional plaster from potentially dropping to the floor, and full restoration of the Main Hall ceiling is scheduled to begin later this week.
