FORESTVILLE, Md. —  A man has been fatally shot in an exchange of gunfire with a Prince George’s County police officer, and police are trying to confirm if the man’s the suspect from an earlier double shooting.

Cpl. Henry Tippett, a police spokesman, said the man was shot just after 10 a.m. Saturday after he emerged from a Forestville home with two firearms and confronted an officer. Cpl. Tippett said the man was killed at the scene by the officer, who was also shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Tippett said police are trying to confirm the man’s identity and determine if he’s the suspect in a double-shooting earlier in the morning at the Arundel Mills Mall.

Cpl. Tippett said Saturday’s shooting occurred as Prince George’s County police helped Anne Arundel County police investigate the killings.
