Robert Knight’s column “National Histrionic” (Commentary, Monday) is a must-read.

Environmentalism has three lethal edges: dishonesty, nihilism and hatred of humans. Children come home from school in tears because their teachers have told them their homes have replaced the habitats of wildlife. These innocents are learning self-hatred.

Humans are more important than the environment; it is they who have intrinsic value. To believe less than that is to end civilization. Environmentalism has become a cancer on our politics, psyche and production.
