SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Grammy-winning Tejano singer Emilio Navaira says he has trouble remembering his own lyrics since he injured his head when he wrecked his tour bus in a DWI accident.

The singer, known to his fans as Emilio, told jurors in a San Antonio courtroom Wednesday that he’s still recovering from brain damage suffered in the 2008 crash in the Houston area.

Former band member Richard Vega brought the $1 million civil lawsuit against Navaira. The bass player is expected to testify Thursday. Vega suffered a lacerated liver and a dislocated shoulder in the accident.

Navaira pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated a year after the crash that sent him through the vehicle’s front windshield.
