OPINION:
For years to come, the shooting in Tucson will be dissected and discussed, and the heroes who were part of it will be forever remembered (“Tucson shootings a federal case,” Page 1, Jan. 10). While the reverberating effects of this appalling incident have struck the core of Americans near and far, the families and friends of the victims are immersed in a level of overwhelming and unrelenting personal grief.
People everywhere attempt to comprehend the incomprehensible that surrounds this horrific event. It is an incident that puts life in perspective and brings home the realization that commonplace pettiness and routine dissatisfaction is minute in comparison to the gargantuan scope of life itself.
Currently, all attention and vital support must be focused on the victims, their families and the surrounding communities that are profoundly affected. As a nation, we share the heartfelt sorrow. Let us focus our priorities in providing compassion, comfort and companionship to help ease the pain that pervades the lives of so many.
