MANASSAS, Va. | Police say two people are dead and four wounded in two related incidents in northern Virginia. A person of interest is being questioned.

Manassas city police spokesman Sgt. Tim Neumann says one person died and three others were shot at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Hood Street. He says one of the wounded is a juvenile.

Neumann says one person was killed in a second shooting later on Brent Street and a woman was injured with a knife or machete in the same incident.

Neumann says police do not believe the incident is random and that the person being questioned is familiar with both families involved. He says the person was picked up during a traffic stop.

The city of about 36,500 people is the government seat for Prince William County outside the nation’s capital.
