Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan expects quarterback Rex Grossman to travel to Northern Virginia on Tuesday night and re-sign with the team, Shanahan said Tuesday morning.
Finalizing Grossman’s new contract before free agents are permitted to join practice on Thursday is the final precursor to a competition for the starting quarterback spot between John Beck and him. Coaches, players and even Grossman himself have long expected the agreement.
Grossman, who will turn 31 this month, started three of the four games he played for Washington last season. He threw for 884 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions and finished with a passer rating of 81.2.
