I step into the voting booth and make my selection. The winners go to Washington to serve.

Can I talk to them directly on the phone? Not likely. If I email them, will they answer my question? I’ll get a prepared form letter stating what they have done on the subject. Well, to whom do they talk? Lobbyists. Who are they? They represent large corporations and Wall Street. What do they talk about? Apparently, they discuss what they can do for each other. What about my needs? Sorry, you’re no longer part of the discussion.

Is this what our forefathers envisioned? Remember the commercial about the Indian paddling down the polluted river with tears running down his cheeks? If our forefathers were here watching Congress, they would be shedding tears as well. Then why bother to vote? The voter has simply become the monkey who pushes the button that starts this fiasco.
