NEW YORK (AP) - A new book says most people’s problem is they don’t listen, just talk talk talk all the damn time.

And even when they aren’t talking, don’t be fooled into thinking they are listening. They are simply thinking about what they are going to say next, researchers found.

So what to do? Change the way you think about what it means to “win” an argument. Or just repeatedly interject the comment “That’s what she said.” That’ll put the brakes on any rant. And if you say it often enough, you could even get the person to stop talking all together and annoy them so much it instead escalates to a smackdown.
