The U.S. Postal Service has been denied a rate increase and rightly so. It lost $3.8 billion last year and is estimated to lose $7 billion this year.

For an example of the wastefulness, look at Hartfield, Va., and Calverton, Va. In both places, there are four post offices within five miles.

This example, I’m sure, is repeated throughout the United States. The government has been managing the USPS for 200 years and is losing billions of dollars. The current situation is indefensible.
