NEW YORK (AP) - A law enforcement official says the son of an Academy Award-winning songwriter is being questioned by police after a woman was found dead in his posh Manhattan hotel room.
The official says Nicholas Brooks was not at the Soho House hotel room when police arrived at around 3 a.m. Thursday, but returned a few hours later. The official was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
The unidentified woman was found partially clothed in the bathtub. There was no obvious trauma to her body.
Brooks is not charged with a crime. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
He is the son of “You Light Up My Life” songwriter Joseph Brooks. In an unrelated case, the father is fighting charges that accuse him of molesting would-be actresses.
