PITTSBURGH (AP) - Officials at La Roche College in Pittsburgh say the head coach of the school’s men’s basketball team has died after collapsing at practice.
The school says in a statement that coach Scott Lang collapsed during practice Friday night and died at a hospital.
Colleen Ruefle, the school’s vice president of student life, says Lang was standing at center court watching practice when he collapsed around 5 p.m. She tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that a trainer started performing CPR within seconds.
Lang, who was in his early 40s, had coached at the Division III school for 18 years, and been head coach of the men’s basketball team for 14 years. He had 150 wins, the most for a coach in school history.
