RUN OFFENSE C

With starting tackles Chris Samuels (torn triceps) and Jon Jansen (sprained knee) both out with injuries, Pro Bowl running back Clinton Portis produced 46 yards on 10 first-half carries. He scored his first touchdown in eight games in the third quarter to put the Redskins ahead 10-0 before slowing down and finishing with 70 yards.

PASS OFFENSE C

Facing the complicated defense of Eagles coordinator Jim Johnson, Jason Campbell kept his poise and did a nice job of spreading the ball around as tight end Chris Cooley, receiver Santana Moss and No. 2 running back Ladell Betts all had at least four catches. Campbell had a solid game despite being sacked three times.

RUN DEFENSE B

Washington’s defense, which had struggled early in recent weeks, held the opponent scoreless in the first half for the second time this year and the first time since Week 7 against Cleveland. Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, who usually plays well against the Redskins, ran for just 45 yards on 12 carries.

PASS DEFENSE B

Donovan McNabb passed for 230 yards, but it took him 46 attempts. Jason Taylor’s two sacks gave him 2.5 in two weeks after he recorded just one in his first 10 games. London Fletcher recovered a fumble on the second sack to set up Portis’ touchdown. But defensive tackle Lorenzo Alexander never should have been left alone covering Westbrook.

SPECIAL TEAMS B

Ryan Plackemeier boomed his third and fourth punts of at least 50 yards in two weeks. Kicker Shaun Suisham’s ill-advised 54-yard field goal try fell well short, but he did break the scoreless tie not long after with a 33-yarder. The return game didn’t provide much.

COACHING B+

Jim Zorn’s decision to have his shaky kicker try a long field goal in a scoreless game on a windy day was bizarre, but the coach looked smart by challenging an erroneous spot later in the quarter, forcing the Eagles to punt. The coaches deserve credit for getting their reeling team to deliver a big-time performance when its playoff hopes were so slim.
