The Redskins host a must-win game against the Eagles, the Cowboys take on the Ravens in the final game at Texas Stadium, and the Giants and Panthers face off in a possible NFC Championship game preview. Also, Titans and Steelers battle for home-field advantage in the AFC, and the Vikings host the Falcons.

EagleBank Bowl

Navy and Wake Forest face off in the first bowl in the District and the first bowl game of the season. No truth to the rumor that EagleBank officials will be on hand to help fans renegotiate the terms of their mortgages.

College Hoops on CBS

Park yourself on the sofa for this lineup of games on Saturday afternoon: Xavier at Duke and then Connecticut at Gonzaga. ESPN also features Syracuse vs. Memphis.

Las Vegas Bowl

So much for heading to balmy Nevada for a nice bowl weekend. Projected high temperature in Las Vegas for the game between Arizona and BYU: 41 degrees.

1. He was first offered $4,000 to play for the Redskins but held out for $8,000. He later told Sports Illustrated that he “felt like a robber” when he found out other good players made significantly less.

2. Many people never heard of Baugh until hip-hop superstar Jay-Z appeared in his 2002 music video “Girls, Girls, Girls,” wearing a throwback 1947 Baugh jersey.

3. He had a brief acting career, appearing in a 12-part series called “King of the Texas Rangers.” He earned $6,800.

4. He led the NFL in punting from 1940 to 1943 and again in 1945.

5. He wanted to become a baseball player and received a scholarship offer from Washington State. But the offer was rescinded after he hurt his knee sliding into second base.
