Capt. Elmer Gedeon, who played 5 games for the Washington Senators in 1939, was one of two players with Major League Baseball experience killed in World War II. His plane was shot down April 20, 1944 over France. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. (Courtesy Gary Bedingfield)
