
Brown University Provost Mark Schlissel addresses the media Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 after being named as the new president of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Board of Regents approved Schlissel as the 14th person to lead the Ann Arbor school at a special session. Schlissel, 56, is Brown's chief academic officer. Before that, he served as dean of biological sciences at the University of California-Berkeley. He also is a biochemist who received a medical degree and a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University.
