ASSOCIATED PRESS After years of erosion by the ocean’s salt air, “Chain Reaction,” a sculpture by Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Paul Conrad, is in danger of falling down. With repairs estimated to cost as much as $400,000 to fix, city officials say the sculpture is a work of art that Santa Monica can no longer afford.
