While Hillary Clinton took the floor at the Pepsi Center Tuesday night, others from Mrs. Clinton’s Baby Boom generation gathered at the Temple Buell Theatre for a taping of e-town, a Boulder-based radio program.
The acoustic show featured performances by Ani DiFranco, Graham Nash, David Crosby and James Taylor.
“I have a pretty terrible record,” Mr. Taylor said of his past political affiliations. “I was for George McGovern, Walter Mondale and John Anderson. Singers might not bring people into the political arena, but I get to feeling so strongly, it makes me feel better to get involved. I am hoping against hope we’ll see change in this country.”
Mr. Nash played to the decidedly over-40 crowd barefoot. Mr. Crosby’s long locks are now pure white. The two, along with bandmates Neil Young and Stephen Stills, have been getting out the anti-war message since Woodstock. Whatever the message, their harmonies sounded much the same as they have for almost 40 years, as they sang “Teach Your Children,” “Deja Vu,” and “This is My Country.”
The duo joined Mr. Taylor and others for a rendition of “This Land is Your Land.”
Like many events in Denver this week, the discussion was indeed about this land. Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter and environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. all received standing ovations as they spoke prior to the concert.
