CHICAGO — On Selection Sunday, ESPN analyst Jay Bilas wasn’t happy. He ripped Virginia Commonwealth’s pick for the NCAA Tournament, between plugging his former Duke teammate Tommy Amaker’s NIT-bound Harvard program.
VCU coach Shaka Smart didn’t forget Bilas’ comments after beating Southern California Wednesday night in the first round. That earned a Friday matchup with Georgetown.

The Dayton Daily News and ESPN’s Brian Bennett also tackled VCU making its doubters — Bilas included — look bad.
Andy Katz of ESPN speculated Smart could be a candidate for other jobs after the win.
And Yahoo’s Jason King didn’t care for the First Four concept. Or, in his words, the First Bore.
