Marge Simpson, matriarch of the cartoon family “The Simpsons,” poses in the nude on the cover of Playboy magazine, TMZ.com is reporting.

She also has a three-page spread inside for which she might appear in lingerie (cartoon lingerie) or in the buff (cartoon buff). Either way, a real, live Playmate also will appear in the issue.

Um … how’s that again?

I don’t know what to make of this. Is “The Simpsons” going for that 45-and-older demographic? Or is Playboy setting its sights on the 8-to-12 market?

I suspect that there are a lot of nerds out there who are either excited or confused by this news.

“Marge Simpson? Naked? I wonder what she looks like.”

“I don’t know. Use your imagination.”

Any guy who’s excited about this should see Jessica Rabbit in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” Now THAT’S a cartoon figure to get excited about!
