Chambliss takes early lead in runoff

Saxby Chambliss has taken an early lead in the runoff election for his U.S. Senate seat in Georgia, the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting.

Chambliss, the Republican incumbent, was leading Democratic challenger Jim Martin, 64% to 36%, according to AJC.

The contest was being watched closely because a Martin win would give the Democrats a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Nobody likes a filibuster, except a filibuster-er. And you can never find a filibuster buster when you really need one.
