Lawyer: Blagojevich will not appoint a senator

An attorney for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says his client will not appoint anyone to the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama, Bloomberg is reporting.

That big, rush of wind you’re hearing is the entire Democratic Party — and the state of Illinois — breathing a sigh of relief.
