Eddie Murphy reminded audiences just how talented he still is with his Oscar-nominated turn in 2006’s “Dreamgirls.”

The “SNL” standout released “Norbit” on the heels of his Oscar nomination, and quickly shot the high-concept comedy “Meet Dave.” He also signed up for another turn as Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop IV.”
Where did the smooth-talking hustler from “48 Hours” go? Or even the chameleon-like comic from “The Nutty Professor?”
It’s a shame Murphy can’t find projects that match his abilities, but the comedian isn’t exactly helpless. He could write his own material or wait for a truly inspired script to call his own.
Stunts like this won’t help his career get back on track.
