Two days before the 50th anniversary of the late President Kennedy’s death, two Democrats who followed in his footsteps paid tribute during a solemn ceremony at Arlington National Ceremony.

President Obama and former President Clinton — joined by their wives, first lady Michelle Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — laid a wreath at Kennedy’s gravesite. The couples then stood silently, hands over their hearts, while a military bugler played “Taps.”

Friday marks 50 years since Kennedy, the nation’s 35th president, was shot and killed in Dallas.

The wreath-laying was one of several events Mr. Obama and Mr. Clinton attended together on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Clinton was one of 16 recipients of the Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. Mr. Obama presented him with the medal during an event at the White House.

On Wednesday evening, Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama will attend a dinner in Washington honoring those who were given the Medal of Freedom this year.
