I have a feeling everyone will be monitoring the ice closely this evening. There was a Harlem Globetrotters (event? game? show of hands — who can name someone on the Globetrotters?) this afternoon. Instead of starting at noon like the Georgetown games typically do on a double-dip here at the Phone Booth, it started at 1 p.m.
It has been a mad scramble to get the ice ready. The doors were not open for fans to come in until about 6:10, and there were still large piles of snow and some dirt from getting the basketball court off the ice just minutes before that.
It is a good thing the condition of the ice never sparks any kind of controversy in this town.
