Alex Ovechkin just got done with a conference call as part of collecting the Art Ross and Maurice Richard trophies today. The most interesting thing he said? Ovechkin is confident Sergei Fedorov not only wants to play in the NHL next season, he knows where the aging Russian superstar wants to play.
“I know for sure he wants to stay in Washington,” Ovechkin said. “I know for sure.”
I guess that would mean it is up to Caps general manager George McPhee and Fedorov’s agent, Pat Brisson, to get something done.
More to come on this later.
