Because people love reading about quarterbacks, here are a couple snippets from Ralph Friedgen yesterday on junior quarterback Josh Portis.
First, on his overall use:
SEE RELATED:“I think we have to do more with him, either him throwing it or him handing it off,” Friedgen said.
There’s more to come on quarterback continuity later —- as in how Maryland might be smart to try to keep that position as stable as possible if a lot of other things are in flux.
Back to Portis. He looked like a magnet for tacklers on his failed fourth-down scamper in the fourth quarter. And maybe there’s a reason why.
“Really, he kind of just didn’t go through with the whole play,” Friedgen said. “They blitzed a little bit. It was picked up, and if he kept up he probably would have made it. He panicked and went the other way.”
