The lingering subplot of the week is the availability of Wake Forest kicker Sam Swank.

The senior is here at Byrd Stadium, as is backup Shane Popham.

But as the Demon Deacons take their pregame tries at both ends of the field, it’s Popham who is kicking and Swank who is watching nearby without a helmet.

So it looks like Popham is the guy for Wake. And on paper, the fact it isn’t Swank is a bit of a boost to Maryland.
