Maryland is now a man down for at least the next three weeks.
Forward Jerome Burney complained about some foot pain on Tuesday. After an MRI exam, it was revealed the sophomore has a stress fracture.
SEE RELATED:Burney was averaging 0.6 points and 1.9 rebounds for the Terps (6-2), who play Delaware State tomorrow. But coach Gary Williams said Burney was improving.
“Slowly,” Williams said. “I thought he was playing a little better as time was going on and looking better inpractice. It’s a shame. You don’t like to see guys not get the chance.”
Burney’s minutes —- an average of 7.75 over the last four games —- will have to go to someone, and it creates an opportunity for Braxton Dupree, Jin Soo Kim or Steve Goins to etch out (or, in Dupree’s case, re-establish) a larger role.
