Barack Obama gets a haircut

CHICAGO — Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama scrapped his campaign schedule so he could monitor the situation with Hurricane Gustav, the worst of which appears to be over as new storms form in the Atlantic.

So far today, Obama has stayed out of the spotlight as Republicans resume the convention in St. Paul.

The protective pool of reporters noticed his street in Chicago’s Hyde Park has been transformed into a “fortress”-like blockade since he became the nominee. This morning he went to the gym at his friend’s building and then got a haircut, a pretty regular schedule for when he’s home.

0909 – Obama arrives at Mike’s through loading dock entrance. A truck was parked nearby and as the pool bus drove past we saw Obama shook the driver’s hand

1022 – Obama departs Mike’s

1025 – Obama arrives at Hyde Park barber shop

1050 – Obama departs barber shop, waves to a small crowd gathered across the street. As the motorcade departed, Obama waved to poolers with a look of amusement as we walked towards pool bus

1055 - Obama is home
